Izabelle

For Izabelle Coimbra, nothing compared to finally feeling whole and complete - not even winning a national pageant crown or working as a professional model.

“I needed to be free”, she described. By 2017, Izabelle had gone through much of her transition but had not yet realized her dream of getting transfeminine bottom surgery. “I couldn’t look at myself in the mirror and feel like a completely beautiful woman. ...”, Izabelle shared with the Jornal Agora.

The Brazilian model, just like so many other women, had spent most of her life feeling stifled behind an identity that wasn’t her own. “I knew early on in life that I was a woman. I always had a feminine soul and always saw my true self as a woman.”, said Izabelle. But since society often dismisses that inner knowledge, she hid herself away for many difficult years.

Yet that need to be free finally became stronger than her fear. And with courage and support, she began her physical transition. By 2014, she’d started competing in beauty pageants. But when fell short of winning that year’s Miss T Brazil competition, she used the tenacity she’d built over the years to keep going. Izabelle competed again in 2017 - and this time she won the illustrious crown.

The honor afforded her the chance to undergo gender confirmation surgery here at Kamol Hospital in Bangkok. Widely respected as one of the best cosmetic centers in the world, we’re not only focused on aesthetic results - we believe in a compassionate and individualized approach to care. Our accredited facilities and staff provide a tranquil and supportive environment where patients can heal, both physically and emotionally.

“Ever since the moment I arrived at the airport, I’ve been so wonderfully welcomed. I feel so well treated at the hospital...it’s not easy to leave your country and travel to a place where you don’t know anyone. … but I don’t regret it for a moment because going through this has made me feel whole.”,  she told Jornal Agora after her surgery.

And she’s not the only one - patients from around the globe come to Kamol, especially given that many private and public healthcare plans cover our services.

Izabelle went on to compete in the 2018 Miss International Queen pageant and continues to model, but the true prize has been the power to fully reclaim her body and experience the harmony she always longed for.  “...I no longer have those physical obstacles that keep me stuck in sadness.”, she shared. “I feel fulfilled; a complete woman; whole”

We at Kamol Hospital are truly honored to be on this path with Izabelle. And we stand beside her as she advocates for women to access the gender confirming and compassionate care they deserve.
